THEIR STYLE OF ELECTRONIC MUSIC IS TIMELESS, BUT TO TRULY UNDERSTAND THIS GROUP IS TO SEE AND HEAR THEM LIVE. RABBIT IN THE MOON'S LIVE EXPERIENCE HAS THE POWER TO EVOKE EMOTION AT WILL. WITH A MIX OF PERFORMANCE ART, LIVE VIDEO PROJECTIONS, AND ORIGINAL MUSIC, R.I.T.M. CREATE A POWERFUL CONNECTION WITH THEIR AUDIENCE. IN THE READERS POLL AWARDS 1997 URB MAGAZINE, R.I.T.M. EWUN
Ewunthegun.com, Lifted Music, Human Imprint, Evol Intent Recs.

www.myspace.com/ewun

Hailing from Rochester, New York, Ewun has established himself in the international drum & bass scene with an impressive list of releases on some of the most prestigious labels in the industry, including, Lifted Music, Human Imprint Barcode, & Evol Intent Recordings. Since his first worldwide record release, his tunes have been destroying dancefloors all over the planet with an all- star lineup of DJ support from the biggest and most influential DJs in the scene.

His reputation has grown from his trademark blend of hip-hop, glitched breakbeats, twisted distortion, and a never-ending supply of sheer attitude. Attention to detail, dynamics, engineering, and dancefloor sensibilities have made his productions stand out from the masses and have gained him the respect of the global drum & bass community and beyond.

The past year has been a busy one for Ewun, complete with multiple North American tours and a European tour with label mates Evol Intent. The coming months are already shaping up to be even more ambitious. With a Lifted Music Australia/New Zealand tour in the works with Spor, as well as other touring plans, combined with his imminent and much-anticipated release schedule for the spring, things are shaping up to be yet another great success. Releases include collaboration projects featured on Evol Intent's LP "Era Of Diversion", the "Wun Nation" EP for Evol Intent Recordings, remix work for Dieselboy's Human Imprint label, and of course the collaboration EP on Lifted Music titled "From the Inside Out" as other forthcoming material for the label... ~

Sorry you feel that way.

We thought that the past promotion company would of contacted all of the djs they booked once they left the venue. Had we known that the person responsible for booking you didn't let you know about the changes perhaps we could of tracked you down.

Apologies, we were moving forward and had not tracked down any of the old promoters support djs.

Its really unfortunate that you take this stance. You have played alot at sonar and Im sure something could of been worked out in the future. However, you've decided to slam the management, call us unprofessional and self predict our demise. None of which seem professional.

Many djs have already reached out to new management and tried to cut deals to move forward in the future. They also are owners of record labels.

what management..... dan? doesnt he do the parties at the talking head which 75% of baltimore never heard of cuz the shows are so niche. whoever u r , u have my email addy my pm addy on here im sure u know my myspace page. and u guys didnt hit me up at all. if u cant even cancel shows right how can u book them. its not slamming the management only an observation. and what all the other djs that play for free reached out to play for free for someone that has no idea about the scene or anyone in it. great that shows how desperate some people are. me on the other hand i have gigs over sea's and in different country's. i could careless how u percieve my actions. and who has a dnb label with international distro. you can pick any of my 4 records up at any respectable vinyl dealer whether that be a local record shop or the biggest sellers of vinyl online. like chemical records, redeye records, bbs , juno and more..

This we have nothing but mad respect for. However I do believe Future Rock was the selected Headliner for the DNB area before the other promoters left which is why i said supporting artist.

Feel free to keep slamming sonar. We will move forward. It would of been much better to work through this situation though and possibly get you back in there. What you've done today though is nothing less than an attack.

How can we book those who attack us?

I'm not trying to meddle in any one's business but, if you terminated the past promotion company (which is my understanding that that is what happened, yes?), then that means they no longer work for you. So in turn they are no longer responsible for dealing with the talent scheduled to play at Sonar. :D

:hmm: I see no reason to diss me here Dustin. I'm not even the one on Sonaredm right now but I was told to check this thread

Seems to me that if someone were booked by a previous promoter at any venue & knew they had left, that someone would contact the venue too be sure the show was still on, their contract was in force, & that everything was cool. If the someone doesn't do that & a new person is now booking the venue, how are they (the new people) to know that the someone is even still interested if there's been no contact from them?

I'm sorry if there was miscommunication here but I don't think coming in and trying to rag on me or starting negative vibes in here is the correct way to do things. If you just found out it was me, you have my contact info & could have used it to alleviate any of this.

As far as contracts go, ones for RITM & Ewun are in hand... those were the ones eluded to above.

I certainly don't want to get into a pissing contest with you or anyone else about what's happening. Previous people left.. the who, why, what of which is none of my business quite honestly. My concern was to see dance music stay there & I offered to help fill this night which I think has been done with a great line up of locals, many that haven't played there before which is refreshing.

Bottom line is if there had been some contact from you to Dan which he would have then conveyed to us, things could be different

The sonaredm moniker is being used on here by us for promotional purposes.
Any terminations were done by Sonar or the previous promoter/booking agent.
We had nothing to do with any of that.
We simply want to see dance music alive & well at Sonar

Still, if they were working for Sonar and were terminated, they no longer have any obligation to be in contact with the talent that has been booked, IMO. That's like saying I still have an obligation to fax contracts and contact clients for my job I left last month...

You probably think that your contribution to the scene is large, yet what you do with one hand you erase with the other. Your constant attacks towards other people in the scene create a very tense environment that is not helpful nor constructive at all.

your sourness won't bring a lot of people, either. You are just burning bridges with such attitude.

Who the fuck are you to be calling me a bedroom DJ?
I was a resident DJ at Mosaic before the club closed.
I currently have residencies at Sky Lounge and Shorty's.
I'm playing Buzz tonight, and I've played Buzz several times in the past, including NYE 2006/07.
If you look at my MySpace calendar I've got about 15 bookings, and that's just through March.
I've got more into April and May.
I've opened up for internationally touring DJs in pretty much every genre, including DnB.

DJ gigs are cool. What have you done outside of that? Like musical production? As Ive been impressed a few times at the amount of your bookings so obviously you're doing something right. I dont think he was talking about you anyways Logo. Though I do think 90% of local DJs are exactly that a Bedroom DJ, not in a negative sense. Meaning a DJ who has fine tuned his DJ skills in a Bedroom, and not in a club due to music output, record releases etc.

Yeah I write tunes. I have about 30 of them finished. I choose to give other artists a chance before my own music. So in a sense I choose to be second fiddle to other artiste of Flatline. Even though the label was originally started for my own musics output. I wrote a couple tunes with Stakka. You heard of him? :) I have a forthcoming Flatline LTD 12" vinyl - Juice/Phobia as well as I have 2 tunes forthcoming on the Flatline - From The Streets LP... one of them being Stakka & Wicked Sway - The Batcave, and the other Oceans of Chaos. I dont need to use my label to make me exempt from anything. I will use it to set an example of how its done in the spirit and not the flesh. The music speaks for itself, and I hold no egotistical bond with it other then Flatline being my love and passion towards the music. I simply said people that write the music, get paid. Its that simple, its not for their great DJ skills. Anything next to the artist creating the miracle is second fiddle.

From a dancer's perspective, I probably wouldn't have gone to the previously listed event. With the new line-up, I know the style and cohesive musicality that these "NON-Bedroom DJs" bring to the table. I can safely say IMO the aforementioned locals have much skill in their craft, in that they can keep me dancing from start to finish. I am really excited to support this new endeavor; thanks SonarEDM for keeping things alive.

ANYWAYS

the more I think about this the more i'm stoked for it - i keep wanting to say the lounge is going to be ridiculous but EVERY room is going to be ridiculous. they might as well remove the couches and other seating areas for this night, 'cause I don't think they'll be necessary :D

So I read this thread, and I also have attended every drum and bass event Sonar has held since Deuce was restarted. I happen to enjoy Sonar a lot and the only problem I've ever had there is some management people not letting me smoke a spliff in an empty dark room.

I would rather see DJ C then Maboroshi. I've seen them both and I hated the breaks in the tracks Maboroshi was dropping because they all sounded identical. Actual Fact is a local DJ who definitely should have been booked for this event, as he's better then the other locals who were booked.

Alright well since your going off a profile pick and you so desperately want to rag on us .. And you think I am lee here is a pick for you ...

I can't believe you're trying to brag about how great your girlfriend is, and then you throw up an image of you repping gear from Pac Sun? It's so shitty that you would bring this kind of pissing contest up, especially when you're a tool. My girlfriend is hotter, younger, and more rave than yours, but who gives a fuck?

Yes she is and she is the best Girlfriend a full time DJ could ask for .. I def get to play with those o natural ta ta on demand

This says it all, chauvinist scum

I couldn't help but notice you claiming how you make all this money DJ'ing. In that case you must be really good and I'm looking forward to seeing you spin sometime. If you hate DJ C so much, don't respond to his trolling. You've only unearthed yourself as an elitist douche bag.

No contract for YOU. I was not given a contract for DJ C for the club side.
I saw a copy for RITM
no lies... no alzheimer's

oh, and when I do forget things, it's more chemo brain than alzheimers. that crap just doesn't seem to go completely out of your system

I have never met or seen you (then again I don't know what you look like) but what exactly do you run in Baltimore that has to do with this event or drum and bass? Like I said, I have been to tons of dnb events at Sonar and never heard of any of the people pissing in this thread. Although thanks for booking Ewun, that is really massive.

I'd like to take this moment to introduce myself. Please take 5 mins to read.

My name is Chad. (not 2rip!) and quite frankly I was given a job to do. That JOB is "Talent Buyer" at Sonar and I plan to use that title to BUY TALENT and rock the ever loving shit out of Sonar!

I wanted to give everyone that didn't know me a little background about where I've come from. If there was ever any questions about whether or not sonar has someone on staff that knows and loves EDM now you know the answer.

Sooooooo here we go.

First event I started working at was with Giovanni and Catastrophic productions. The event was Called 'DEEP' it was held at the Circle club in DC around the late 90s early 2000s

After that I went on to help with ONE-OFF events hosted at 'The Ritz', 'The EDGE' and Tracks

From time to time I would help Buzzlife if needed.

In 2003 I personally helped construct a venue called 'The Studio' with John Tab and Andrew Flint. That space spawned TWO events. One called ALIAS and one called TRANSIT.

Right around that same time I was throwing some seriously sick house parties which were all Free and hosted djs such as John Tab, Simon and International Headliner MADAM ZU.

From there I moved to Florida where I threw a party called 'KONTAKT'

When I got back I hosted a personal tent at the first BMC. I set up a club level sound system and booked names like: Terry Mullan, Mathematics & Tittsworth. I also included 10+ locals on the bill. The sound was so sick Joe Nice could even drop his dubstep on it.

After that I was hired into GIVE PRODUCTIONS and still to this day work for them. TRANSIT has been running now for almost 4 years!!!!

Recently I was Green lighted on another weekly event at shortys. I dubbed that 'RADAR' and will be running the event with long time friend Wickity!

and now... my latest hire... SONAR!

I have been to almost every big event in DC/Baltimore since '99

I have been to almost every big house party starting from 'welcome back warmth'

I personally know or have heard of every single local dj in our scene

and last but not least I currently help book 3 events in 2 states!!!!

With all this being said. I really hope that everyone will share in my vision for sonar. I want to open this club up and turn it back into a place where you can go hear all of your friends spin records. I want to book as many different locals as I can. As the djs on this board can tell you... Sonar has been around for a LONG ASS TIME and hardly any us have had the chance to play.

Im going to bring in odd headliners, people that you wouldn't normally see and by god Im going to book at least 5-7 locals to support them.

Ok, Im done :D

But seriously, Lisa and I are going to do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to make sonar a better more open atmosphere for everyone to come and have fun in. If at the end of the day we dont get the support so be it. I tried my absolute best to rock the fuck out.

Thanks peeps,

-C

SonarEDM = me / lisa

I started the account so if there were any djs that wanted to send demos in they could. or if anyone had questions they could ask.

I wanted one central location so lisa and I didnt have to forward stuff back and forth

Chad,

I haven't known you long but your taste and view on EDM is inspiring. I hope people see your vision for our Dance Music Scene.

BTW, your credentials are impeccable. When I first moved to this area back in the late 90s, DEEP was the other party outside of Buzz that provided me with quality EDM. As for the other venues, I have always had amazing times at any of the ONE-OFFs at The Ritz, Edge, or Tracks.

I will continue to support the music. I know I don't go out all the time for every genre, but my appreciation and respect is vast. If there were 5 of me, I'd be at every party dancing my ass off.

The three level thing was always something that drew me in.

IMO, way back DEEP was multi-genre weekly number one outside of Buzz.
The downstairs room had a grungy basement-rave feel. Meanwhile the upper levels had a sophisticated loungy atmosphere perfect for chilling out or dancing to your hearts content. Sometimes I think back and think things were simpler then, especially without all this factioning of genres (i.e. my genre kicks your genre's ass and I won't support anything that isn't remotely related to my genre).

Ok, since we're posting resumes here, guess I'll add mine too :D

The quick version:
In the club scene of Baltimore in the 80's (yes, I am older, just not hitting 75 yet :yikes:)
Got married, had kids, lived the trophy wife life for quite awhile, got divorced & came back to clubs for the music!
Got into this "scene" in 2000 when meeting Charles Feelgood who ordered flowers from me.
Went to see him play, realized I'd found my home with this music & started going to Sonar & Sky Lounge on a regular basis & any where else that was playing it.
2004 - was asked to decorate the Sonar stage at Starscape & then attended it for the 1st time.. loved it!
2005 - closed my flower shop & began the Baltimore Music Conference as a way to help those trying to advance in the music industry.
2005 - 2008 - have met and become friends with people all over the world in different aspects of the industry & continue to become excited at the prospects that are out there for Baltimore & those in the industry
2008- purchased Shorty's from Charles & was hired on to book talent at Sonar

Bottom line for me is that I love music & the industry itself so I want to keep great music at great venues & hope everyone that comes out has a great time!

I guess if you want more background, you can always hit up these too :D

This lineup is reminding me of Sonar years ago: great eclectic mix of locals, and a solid headliner. It's been a while since we've had that. I haven't had a chance to play Sonar in over 2 years and I am definitely amped for this show. I'll have pre-sale tickets at Delivery tomorrow, breakout Wednesday, and at Transit the following Wednesday. They are 20 bucks.

Wow, I'm glad Sonar is continuing to have the EDM rockin. It would be a waste not to. Alot of sour comments on this thread with this screwball guy. Maybe PMing to somebody would of been a better idea than showing unprofessionalism and bitterness of the past that has nothing to do with this party. I've been in the same situation when mgmt or ownership changes and your left out in the cold. Thats an inevitability of being a dj. Seems now your not too popular with Sonar going forward for your crew.

Anyways, looking forward to this. It will be fun and great bedroom dj line up by the way ;>)

Let me start off by saying that i'm not here to offend anyone and i hope all the events at sonar go well... the more GOOD edm events we have the better!!! :onethumb:

questions for Chad....

First event I started working at was with Giovanni and Catastrophic productions. The event was Called 'DEEP' it was held at the Circle club in DC around the late 90s early 2000s

After that I went on to help with ONE-OFF events hosted at 'The Ritz', 'The EDGE' and Tracks

what was your job with said production companies.

i worked at the edge from 1997-2003. Did i meet you back in the day? I was there and would have met you then if you have thrown events at the edge???

and i'm guessing you talking about the second run of the DEEP in 99' not the original?

I have been to almost every big event in DC/Baltimore since '99

I have been to almost every big house party starting from 'welcome back warmth'

I personally know or have heard of every single local dj in our scene

that's a pretty bold statement! to say that you have been at every big event and know everyone in the scene.... WOW.

i'm glad that you have taken a personal interest in locals. Many talent buyers overlook booking locals, that a BIG plus!

As a event promoter, talent buyer, booking agent and fellow dj i wish you and lisa much luck. you guys deserve it!

Interestingly enough we have met on numerous occasions but for some reason have never carried a conversation. Im not sure why that is. Im not the first person to jump up and say hi so that might be the issue. Its really odd to me cause Im good friends with most of the people in instinctive grooves also. Paco and Locks were part of the old school Sterling crew I use to chill with.

In fact, you know a good friend of mine Jeff (Unknown DJ) and I was actually standing right next to peter when you dropped off the aquasky flyers at transit not to long ago.

One more interesting connection is the fact that you spin for Mitch down in Florida. I lived down there and went to a few of his events at X-it back in the day. Ive talked to him a couple times but doubt he would remember.

I guess lm like a ninja or something. Always in the shadows. Anyway Im going to send you a pm about some stuff. Check it out if you would.

Oh!

Yes that was a very bold statement about knowing most of the local talent. I feel VERY confident that Im only one step away from booking most of the djs around DC and Baltimore. Im actually happy about that cause Im gonna need some talent coming up soon.

']ive played at sonar a million times. def not pissed as im already involved in something else. just think its funny they fire people thinking theyd be better off, but in turn they shot themselves in the foot. everyday that goes by is more lost money for sonar. everytime lisa post its more money lost. the people taking her back feel sorry for her and the situation cuz i called names. but in turn i dont need anyone to feel sorry for me. and if they really cared theyd book better people then bedroom djs. no offense to any local playing but does any of them do any more then just dj? like make music or do something else in the industry to make them worth seeing.

no i just dj every once and a while..so suck it....

trust me, a family feel will be the vibe we're shooting for.

everyone helps everyone, locals supprt the party and the party supports the locals.

DJs can come have fun... spin some tracks, drink a few beers, chill with friends and make a little cash. if you wreck, just means its time for another shot! (dont wreck on purpose tho)

i dont think any of our events will break your wallet either. we'll have lots of people playing for your dollar during big events... and some smaller events that will only cost $10.... maybe even less.

Lis aand Chad, congrats on the move up. Nice move booking guys like Neighborhood Watch, LadyMaroo, Tzeech, and Kaotix, they're definitely cross-city favorites which seems to be a hard feat lately. Best of luck on the show. :)

I agree about these guys & we'd like to have them as well as a lot of other locals from here, DC & Philly coming thru. This is a scene that originally started as all inclusive, respectful and appreciative of support. I think going back to an open-minded set is key in moving things forward. With that in mind, support from everyone in this area will benefit all parties, regardless of crew affiliations. :mary:

Minnie, please. I have pm'd you back about all of this & never said you couldn't have parties there.

I think we've tried to come into this with an open mind & heart about trying to keep edm at Sonar. Although we didn't make a full blown announcement about it being Chad & me, we've never hidden the fact that it was us when responding to someone.
I offered to help fill this night in order to keep the show there. I asked Chad to help me. We met with Dan. It evolved into additional nights & where we are with it now.
I contacted Evan to let him know 1st before we announced the line up for this show out of respect and years of friendship/knowing each other. I wish him & Steez all the best in the world.. they do awesome things for the edm scene (and more) in Baltimore & I will support any way I can.
They had a disagreement with the owner... that's not my business & I'm not in the middle of it... period.
I want to see edm continue at Sonar... period.

As far as the negative comments and insults that were directed at me both professionally & personally.. that doesn't hurt my feelings (I'm a big girl... read.. old, remember?)
HOWEVER, it does show me who I would be dealing with in working with them and quite honestly if you (in general) can't be respectful to me and what I'm doing, why should I bother to try to work with you??

If someone wants to book a show there, fine. Show me a kickass line up, treat me with respect & I'll help you put it together, promote it & be there that night to cheer you on.

I may not have been in on the rave scene in it's hayday but I still believe in :plurstick: and that's how I operate in business & personally.

My parents taught me at a young age that if you can't say anything nice... don't say anything at all.
This is a promotional thread for an awesome party & I'd like to keep it that way.
If you want to :monopeeright: :monopeeleft: on the party... do it amongst yourselves. And if you have an issue with me or how things are being handled.. PM it or email me.

thank you... now back to the promo please!

I didnt sort out anything with Lisa. I never once said I didnt support them either. If you read the thread I did support them and wished them well. LOL at the Hack comment. Drum Rituals at Sonar were always 250 people plus. We did large parties that were of the knockers. Masheen, NC-17, Stakka, Corrupt Souls, ASC, Robot Death Squad, Cannon Boyz, Headhunterz, Joe Nice was some of the names we brought thru. We hosted the parties live on the internet and some of those sets have been downloaded 1000's of times. Not sure if you went to any of them. We could of thrown a party there anytime we wanted when Steez was there or when Lonnie was in control. Lonnie loved Drum Ritual there. I had alterior motives with Rock & Roll Hotel and opted to do the Scuba/Mayhem/Catacomb/Moldy show in DC. As I felt DNB was simply a better scene here in DC. I was right, so now 12 parties later and we are still rolling. In Feb we have Catacomb in DC. March I have Stakka coming to DC. In April I have Limewax coming to DC. May I have Psidream & Pacific coming to DC. All at the Rock & Roll Hotel. Parties like mine dont need Sonar. Clubs like Sonar need Drum Rituals.

I discontinued the events at Sonar then because the finacial strain of 3 record labels, and monthly events at Sonar were to difficult at the time. I was in the process of putting Dubline together. Producers fee's, mastering, pressing & artwork was killing me. It was effecting my family. Not that the parties weren't successful, as they were awesome. I just had too many things going on. I needed to step back and re-evaluate how I was doing things. All the labels are launched, and are doing well. So it easier to book great artists now & do monthlies now that the labels are starting to fuel themselves. Not to mention Rock and Roll Hotel are a bunch of great people to work for. :)
