This was really huge, I'm surprised how many people showed up for Rabbit in The Moon. I'm also really surprised they had people jumping up and down and crowd surfing over house/breaks. I was expecting something like Hardcore trance or dnb to come from them.

The drum and bass was on point when I walked in and found Chase and Status being played, followed up by Subsonic. The scratching really killed it. Scratching is cool and all, but it has to have a limit. The treble from that became like nails on a chalkboard. Ewun is really nasty and played good tracks. Big up to the girls who DJ'd before him, but I dunno about that guy in the viking armor. Kind of Mallcore/Hot Topic and I wasn't feeling the track selection.

All in all, really epic. I got to meet some cool people from the buzz board also =D

Alright, here it goes.

THIS PARTY WAS OFF THE FUCKIN' HOOK AND THE MUSIC WAS COMPLETELY BANGING, START TO FINISH!!!!

Quick recap bullet point style:

- Maroo, Mabs, Kaotix, Throdown, & Russell (sorry I don't his DJ name) absolutely killed it. The track selection and energy was crazy. Great job of opening for Ewun.

- Side note: Ross & Russell IMO have some of the sickest turntablism skills made for DnB.

- By the time Ewun came on all the DnB up to that point was kicking my ass, and all I could do was just stand in awe as he just rocked the club side :breakdance:

- The lounge was totally the chill spot in the beginning, thanks to some horn driven house/funk/fidget courtesy of Neighborhood Watch. This progressively turned into more bangin' shit that moved the feet. Schlitz, Retail, & Logo set the mood early for what was to be a stellar night of music.

- The main room was crazy bumpin'. Unknown DJ threw in some breaks for your face action and I was pleasantly surprised as I thought there was only going to be house/techno before RITM.

- Murder absolutely pounded the main room dancefloor with their tech house/techno style. . . . . I may have a new found appreciation for Keith's brand of techno.

- RITM although I only caught about 15 minutes of their set, all I could see was a sea of heads. Believe that placed was PACKED!!!!!

- LASTLY, back to lounge where I closed the night out. Josh broke out the old school breaks for a killer closing set.

<blink>He fucking played BREAKER'S REVENGE  from Beat Street </blink>

http://magesy.ws/uploads/posts/thumbs/1191870387_folder.jpg

In conclusion, this night for me ranks in my top five semi massive parties I have been privileged to attend. The last party that I would compare this to is the closing party at Nation (yes I said it). I'm not knocking other parties that I've gone to since then, but truthfully this night had so many musical elements and an amazing vibe that allowed me to connect with the DJs, dancers, and venue.

Anyway, enough said from this one insignificant dance music fan.

Yeah, it's all been said.
Last night was the shit.
I definitely wish I could've been in all three rooms at once, but what I did catch of the performances in the other rooms blew me away.

But I really have to say this:

Neighborhood Watch fucking OWNED that Lounge.

With such a thick DnB crowd in attendance, it was really awesome to see that many people not only populating the Lounge all night, but more importantly, dancing their asses off.
Seriously heavy tunes by retail and SCHLiTZ.

And having Josh close out the night in there was a good call.
Going out with old-school and Funk Breaks was definitely money.

Big up to the girls who DJ'd before him, but I dunno about that guy in the viking armor. Kind of Mallcore/Hot Topic and I wasn't feeling the track selection.

i think ross/throdown does a really good job of collaborating with djs. he knows when to scratch and knows when to let the tune play. he also is really good at reading a crowd - as thats who he takes his cues from - and if something doesnt fly, he'll do a different trick or easy up on his side. i'm not feeling something, i give him the gas face hehe

the other kid he let jump on and use his gear was also good, but he was a bit overkill IMO. he seemed to care more about flexing what he could do rather than trying to compliment maboroshi's set.

ken's costume is awesome. ken is awesome. we found that skull armour @ a huge all year halloween store in VA beach and i totally want to go back and get lycan chris a matching one. actually i could spend my entire paycheck in that store hehe.. hot topic/mallcore tho? MALLCORE? i had to look that phrase up. i should punch you for that but everyone's entitled their opinion. as far as the set, he started off his set a little too metal dnb (which is too difficult for ross to scratch over without sounding like ass, IMO) but he evened it out and while i was there they were kicking ass.

over all amazing times! i am feeling better today. i was sad i had to peel myself away from sonar and dip out to richmond. the younger crowd definitely came out in full force, which i think is great. big ups to sonaredm for throwin the party!

the next big three room massive is on may 3rd.

Check the forums. :D Jackal and Hyde Live! with Fanu

We just posted the local line up also... its gonna be a sick night.

In the mean time we have a bunch of two room events and are looking to grow our fan base.

We are also bringin in talent that you might not normally see around here. We are trying to really mix things up. If you see a dj headlining and your not quite sure who it is.... take a minute to check them out. I promise you they will be killing sonar.

Things are changing at this venue, I hope after RITM people kinda see that now. Its time to open up and catch some new acts. :D

We will also try and keep prices down as low as possible so hopefully, after a few months... you'll be able to catch every show and Soanr will the spot in bmore to come and chill with your friends.

el-oh-el. you said no, not any of the girls. :D

unfortunately the burning lasted in my stomach all night, so other than a beer (an attempt to put the fire out), my drinking ended with that shot. (so much for one last drinking-hurrah before entering hermit-study-mode, durr :afterbuzz:)

doesn't really matter though because i had lots of fun bouncing around from room to room, dancing a bit and enjoying the music, and laughing at a whole bunch of almost-everything. very entertaining night, on so many levels.

That guy started with 151, probably a 70/30 split between that and Malibu. The vodka never made it in. We all got the feeling he wasn't really digging the ring toss thing. :afterbuzz:

:FUBAR: wow!
for that combination I'd have done the malibu, then the vodka & then just topped it with the 151. Goes down a lot smoother that way.

It takes some time to pour these shots & in his defense.. the lounge was popping from the time we opened the doors which I don't think was expected & def not that early. Lesson learned... 2 bartenders when having ring toss as well as all the awesome locals in the lounge

Yeah, having us on at 8:00 was a good move, because we were the only thing happening for an hour before the other rooms got started.
Definitely gave us a chance to set the vibe, and get people familiar with us and our styles of music.
