I am getting married on 5/10 - my photographer just backed out for some personal reason. Anyone have a lead on a good photographer that isn't going to want $5000 or hold my photos hostage for a decade so they can charge for reprints? We are paying for our own (very small) wedding so cost is a major consideration....

I don't know anyone in particular, but I know Jungle Jessi/Jukata were really happy with the photographer they had for their wedding. You should ask them for her info.

We used Andrew Reilly and really liked him. We paid a few extra dollars and now have digital copies of all of our pics so we can make prints ourselves. http://www.andrewreilly.com/

This is who Chris & I are using: http://www.richdutchman.com/ (Digital images are included in the package - if you want an album, you pay a little more, but as long as you place the order before the wedding, there's a pretty good discount on it)

I also met with this guy: http://www.whysallweddings.com/ - really good, but I think he wanted $500 to release the digital images, unless you waited a year

We met with him and I LOVED LOVED LOVED him and his work. Unfortunately, when we tried to book him, he wasn't available, so we went with the guy I listed above.

I liked his work a lot, but there was just something about him that rubbed me the wrong way when my mom & I went to meet with him... (I realize that he's a professional, and this is his job, but some of the stuff he said came across really condesendingly )

The other guy (who we're going with) has a very similar style, I liked his pricing structure a little better & when chris & I met with him, I liked him a little better - which is important, that you feel comfortable with your photographer...

Interesting, by the time we finished meeting with him, we were all laughing and joking around. We left saying, "you know, we could hang out with that guy!"

But, to be fair, not everyone gets along with us...

Not even everyone in this thread, for that matter. :wickity:

aaron and i are using this guy too. we just decided last night.
his work is awesome with a decent price.

for videographers use bluesky flims if you haven't booked anyone. their stuff is really good.

we're going with jessi and james' photographer. she was very cool and the price was right. given my wedding is only going to be 30 people a videographer would be overkill!!

Videographer is torture on anyone that you subject the wedding video on. In fact, in every wedding video I've been on I make some smarmy remark to the camera about how I feel sorry for anyone having to watch this. And 6 months later I always get mega props from the extended family and the friends of friends (amigos de amigos).

lol that's a good point. also, i prefer the memory of the ceremony and some pictures of it to being able to re-watch it over and over and no doubt pick apart details of looking awkward or not speaking loudly enough or whatever.
