Yo, I'm CRAZY excited for Heather this Thursday!
Easily one of my favorite DJs.
Our styles of House are VERY similar.

Chitown will definitely be in the House that night!

I'm really bummed about Heather, but hey, despite our language barriers, and follicular differences, Miguel and I tag well together, and we shall hold down the fort in the funkiest of ways.

So don't let the absence of a headliner keep you from gettin' yo groove on tonight.
Because we will make sure that happens, and then some.

Plus, you can't go wrong with free entry ALL NIGHT + drink specials.

And with Miguel buying rounds of Patron for everyone, it's sure to be a good night.

Miggo Lolush. it's sound slovokian, but really it's mexican and old.

wtf. last night turned out to be awesome.
it was 11o'clock and just me, keith, jon, and miguel. I told miguel I'd call a few people. none of those people showed up.... BUT about 200 drunken dance partying peeps just seemed to roll up in a matter of like 15mins.

bravo to jon and miguel for keeping the party bumpin. great stuff from both of you.

jon and myself are like lost brothers, we knew perfectly how to build and maintain the set, and this is only the second time we tag along....

Miggo Lolush.
Long lost Slovokian-Mexican brothers with a penchant for bringing the funk and Rogaine.

:FUBAR:

Yeah, I dunno.

But what I DO know is that last night was ker-RAZY!
With the turnout we had (Scott, Keith, and the bar staff LOL) I seriously thought LG was gonna cut it around midnight.

And then all these people showed up.
I believe it was Constellation Energy's holiday party or something.
Very mainstream-ish looking crowd.
But they kept coming in, and coming in, and coming in, and within 15–20 mins, the place was PACKED.

Now, because this crowd was a bit more mainstream, we had to switch gears a bit and play more on the commercial side to keep them there.
Stuff with vocals, pretty stuff, electro, hip-hop influenced stuff, etc.
And they LOVED that shit!

Now, Miguel and I weren't playing as raw and as funky as we normally would, if the place was full of headz, and we were opening for an underground headliner, but we didn't sacrifice our integrity either by playing crap we didn't want to play.
We did what was necessary to hold that particular crowd, and not only did THEY have a blast, but we did, as well.

Last night was definitely one of the most fun nights I've had playing at Mosaic.

If 'CvS - Who's Afraid of Detroit' and 'Ben Mono ft. Capital A - Beatbox' are considered mainstream, I'm gonna start hanging out at Iguana Cantina.

Mainstream to "mainstream electronic music" but not mainstream like mtv by anymeans. Both those tracks get played on the XM and Cable Radio a lot. But they are some dope tracks!

HA.
The crowd was mainstream, but what we were playing had a bit more commercial, universal appeal than what we typically play when we're rocking out for a headliner.
Stuff that was either a bit more recognizable or a bit more accessible to a broader audience than the really deep, underground stuff.

BTW, jon missed last night when i was triple dropping,

LOGO
2007-12-14, 01:12 PM
Yeah, I'm sorry that I missed that.

Now, when you say 'triple dropping' do you actually mean that you set up 3 tracks so that they all come out of a breakdown and all 'drop' concurrently, or do you just mean that you rocked 3 turntables?

I mean, either is impressive, but if it's the former, dude, you're the fuckin MAN!

no, just 3 playing.... i usually set it so two are like your normal tracks, and the third is a constant element present during the mix of the first two.... so as you laid down the end of track A to bring in the beginning of track B, there is always a constant element of tracks C playing
