I'm really glad to see that they chose costume designers this season. Also, the "newbie" or the youngest one, Christian, really surprised me. I can't believe Elisa got to stay, she's a nut and I just wanted Chevy Chase, Martin Short and Steve Martin to come out on the Runway behind the model while playing trumpets to 'La Cucaracha.'

god damn Elisa is a fucking wack job. wtf was that 5 foot train of clusterfuck?? If Simone's dress didnt look like I had made it Elisa should have been out of there. Her one saving grace was the one seam aspect.

Simone's garment was not *that* difficult to execute, but her vision of what she wanted just wasn't working for her. I thought Ricky's was bland.

Ricky (who from now on will be called "Mr. Slave" in my house) did a simple babydoll thing, more lingerie than anything.

I thought Chris's dress looked like Michael Knight's purple formal from season 3 in the last challenge before fashon week....except it had that floral print on top.

I liked Jack's the best I think.

other then that, its too early for me to have a real opinion. but i do like how they opened the season with letting us actually see the vision of each designer before they go into the crazy challenges.

I don't think it's nearly as bad as it was then. They're not stuffing the shoulders with linebacker's padding now-a-days either. :shrug: That's not really to do with poofy sleeves but the 80s aesthetic in general... or just Murphy Brown.

Yeah, the models suck. And the majority of them have been weak in previous seasons, too. The model competition is the weakest part of the show.

don't like christian but he did make me chuckle a couple of times, at him probbaly more than with him, i dunno

i agree with heidi on this one. it grew on me. at first i was like "no", now i'm like "hell yes"
i wouldnt think i would like puffy sleeves, but somehow i do. i do find the cut on the skirt a bit questionable. the model and her look really worked with the outfit.

particularly like the bottom. overall its ok. not sure about the belt/ sash color, however i am color blind so i dunno.

btw what do u think happens with jack? death in the family and he'll have to leave the show? the previews for next week seem to indicate something major is up.

don't hate it but im not impressed. i'd need to see it up close, close enough to touch the model in inappropriate ways, to form more of an opinion on it. she looks good in it but a bit awkward.

i like chris, he is funny and certainly doesnt seem to take things (especially himself) too seriously. a useful trait for someone on a reality show.
i like the dress but something doesnt seem perfect about it. like some changes could really make it rock. i however, have no idea right now what those changes would be.

unflatterring and weird. i almost like the bottom, however "almost" is really the operative word here. it almost looks like a 5 year old hopped up on mountain dew attacked a real designers dress with scissors.

i thought Kit looked really cute when she said "life is too short to have on a bad outfit".

as far as her garment goes, i dont like the diagonal over the arm thingy. to me, it doesnt match or properly contrast with the rest of the dress to look like it goes with it. maybe it has something to do with my color blindness but it doesnt all work together for me.

from my sense of steven's style, he doesnt seem to have a chance of winning to me unless he makes some changes. he doesnt seem adventurous and creative enough. i think he is solid and will stick around for awhile though.

this piece is a great example of that. it's defintely not great enough to win, but nowhere near bad enough to get auf'd. i think we will see more outfits from him along those lines as the show goes on.

i think i hate it a little bit. i dunno, it looks a bit like a costume. not a fan but it isnt absolutely horrible, i guess. this is the outfit of the modern female pirate on the go.

i dig the main fabric design, but am not a fan of the overall color combos. the strap's color is what really throws me off i think. i dont like the shape and the design of the top. this almost looks like high end maternity-wear to me, but something about it is kinda nice so i guess i dont hate it (to the point of starting to like it maybe?)

cant think of much to say about it, and i guess thats why everyone says its boring. its certainly lingerie-y. if i saw a chick walk past me on the street with this on i might do a double take wondering if she was in her underwear. overall, it's ok.

i think it looks sloppy, or messy or something; not sure i can find the right word. the flowery thing is a tad gaudy to me, and the upper arm straps make me question how much the functionality of the garment is affected. all that being said, i dont think its absolutely crappy or anything. somehow it looks good on the model.

the front is nice, but the the boots are gross. maybe they are just gross with this dress, but they look mad ugly to me, and detract from how good the front of the dress looks. i realize they arent part of the designed dress, but as part of the presentation of the piece they suck.
concerning the tradgedy in the back of the dress: it looks like a homeless person has latched onto the back and is being drug around by the model as she walks.
im not too surprised she wasnt the loser b/c of the one seam business (not that i really care about that personally) and also b/c of the entertainment value she inevitably provides for the show on account of her being fucking insane.

to me the lack of quality in the construction of the piece is somewhat forgivable given the time constraints they all work under. i usually dont sweat that part of things as much as the overall design. and the overall design is boring. i dont feel like i hate it as much as the judges did though.

it's nice. elegant. atrractive. well draped. i like it. i know this sounds mean and i feel a little bad saying it, but the model is unattractive to me. thats kind of what i keep thinking about when i look at the pic of it.

for me the winner would be Christian. rami's is nice, but it's a tad plain and toga-like. not super flattering to the female form around the waist area and belly area. maybe thats b/c of the model's pose in this pic.

as for the loser, i guess elisa gets saved by how nice the front of the dress is. so then its down to marion or simone. i really cant decide. i'd have to see the models walk in the pieces again to make a final decision.

And I was really surprised with Elisa got to stay.. but I think they went based off of how well she completed her dress, despite the design being completely faulty and beyond ugly..

NEW YORK - It's instant gratification for "Project Runway" fans: A
version of Victorya Hong's winning dress from Wednesday's episode will
be available for sale as early as Friday.

The dress is being offered as part of Sarah Jessica Parker's Bitten
line, sold at Steve & Barry's stores nationwide. The "Sex and the
City" star was the week's guest judge on the Bravo reality show about
fashion.

The challenge put to the aspiring designer contestants was to create
an outfit appropriate for Parker's casual sportswear collection, known
for its cheap pricing compared with other celebrity clothing lines.

The Bitten interpretation of the dress will be offered in black or
burgundy for $19.98, and the vest that goes with it will come in gray
or black for $14.98.

"I loved Victorya's design immediately when I saw it during my
appearance on 'Project Runway,'" Parker said in a statement.

Hong's original dress will be on display at Steve & Barry's flagship
Manhattan store for several weeks.

I finally saw it last night. Marion's dress looked like something a hip viking would wear. Christian's garment was straight from Miami Vice and what is with all of the crying this season?! Mr. Slave needs a good cry every 2 hours or something. His sketch was much better than the garment he made, I would have been more excited to see him re-produce the sketch exactly as it was, rather than taking out the fine details. My favorite was Victorya's design:

It was definately avant-garde, but just cause it's couture doesn't make it good. I dunno. I thought the pants didn't fit the rest of the outfit. The combination of the neck piece, jacket, and shirt looked needlessly "fluffy" and obscurred the models face and as a whole found the completed presentation just...ew.

my top 3 from the beginning were jack, christian, and rami. (i never really picked a replacement for jack once he left) i love chris but rami is solid and consistent and i think he will be the one to show in bryant park. i'm more interested in seeing what chris actually does though.
i think the overall winner will be between jillian and christian though, and i'm really unsure about which one will take it. i'd say in general on the show, christian has shown more talent and ability, but on the other hand jillian is notorious for working slowly and yet she has still made it to the final 3. so who knows what she will actually be able to turn out when she isn't in serious time crunch like she always is for the challenges on the show.

i personally liked chris' 3 better but am not really surprised they picked rami. i was looking for something wild from chris, and as expected, he came through with something unexpected. lol. freaking human hair incorporated into his designs. i also really dug what he did with those black safety pins. he has a knack for putting stuff like that together in a creative way. i was particularly impressed with his pop art style piece for the Hershey's challenge.
anyway, i ended up being right about rami making it to the final 3, which i can deal with because rami was being very gracious and cool about the whole battle with chris thing. so while i would have rather seen chris' full collection at bryant park, i can still say congrats to rami.

Christian's collection was amazingly fabulous, and I was impressed at least that Rami came up with something not all draped. I guess a minor success for him.

So yeah. Christian won. But he could have been more humble about it. I suppose he was worried about his collection... I saw his chin quiver right before Heidi announced. Maybe that will come with age. Dont get me wrong I enjoyed his collection. It was awesome...

After watching the runway show, I thought Christian would win. His collection by far was the most cohesive and it was spectacular. After watching last week's ep I thought I liked Jillian's collection but the only thing I liked during the runway show was the jacket on her main model.

I liked some of Rami's pieces but not bowled over by his entire collection. I did love the woven pieces though! HOT! Most of the stuff that Christian designed I could never wear but it was beyond fierce. I can't believe he made all that stuff himself. Simply amazing. He really deserved to win. After his show I said to my friend "Victoria would wear every one of those pieces!"

I missed last nights episode but i saw the lines weeks ago online. Christian definitely deserved to win this one. Chris still was able to show his line bc they used it as a decoy.

I am so glad Christian won. Emma and I were fiercely texting back and forth the entire time. She mentioned that Christian's stuff looked a lot like older Balenciaga and I totally agree with that. I didn't feel it was as cohesive as it could have been. It was like a 50/50 split between the black garments and the beige garments. I never thought I would say I like ruffles, but my God did he pull it off ever so spectacularly. :lessthanthree:

Rami's black evening wear dress was TO DIE FOR. I also love the woven looks he came up with. The blue garments made me die a little inside though and the magenta dresses reminded me of Chloe's runway show of couch fabrics. I hated his use of color and I am sooooo glad the judges harped on it as much as they did.

Jillian's coats were amazing, but her knitwear was so Abercrombie. Emma dubbed it Banana Republic. I think that's more than generous.

Last night was the first time I ever watched this show. Appropriately, I was inspired to text Kristin. Some thoughts (other than those already posted by K):

- Jillian's silhouettes were lovely, but none of the actual pieces got me excited--something about her items felt 'done', as in--there are other designers covering those looks. She should stick with Ralph Lauren.

- Christian's work is lovely, creative, and sexy. It's also high fashion only. And that extends to the bodies that will be able to wear it. But since he is young, his talent should develop further over time, and perhaps he'll start designing for women. If V.B. becomes a client though, probably not :afterbuzz:

- Rami....:eee: I MUST have that black gown. I saw it on his rack in their little studio and thought, oh boy, that's great. But the full view on the model was stunning. If Jon hadn't been working on a flyer, I'd have hollered for him to come see. But anyway--his skill is superb, the collection was complete and mature, and watching it come down the runway I really thought to myself, here is someone who could become a master. Hopefully someone like Barney's or the Neiman Marcus Group recognizes that, and nabs his collection.

Jillian already has a job, and Rami is destined for greatness (HE BETTER BE, I WANT ONE OF HIS FROCKS), so it makes sense for the young, promising, sparky, 'starving artist' to get the big prize.

No, it did not. But there are not a lot of nice salons in Annapolis so it's probably the "trendiest" compared to others.

When I moved to Bethesda from the Annapolis area I found a Bubbles and patronized it for a while until I discovered the awesomeness of Hugo. I have never gone back.

I was impressed by how good everything was. I think they all rocked it in some way.

i wasnt blown away by anything jillian did but i thought a few of her pieces were nice and overall i thought her line looked good and was well put together. there was some stuff more towards the beginning that was kind of cute but not so commercial cute, kind of high fashion cute. she did good.

i think overall rami did really well. i definitely wasnt in love with his whole line, but a few pieces were quite impressive and the overall effect was a good one. i think he did a bit better than jillian. i was kind of blown away by this dress:

possibly my favorite of the show.

I was surprised to see so many all black items from christian in a row. i like black but damn, it was even getting close to too much for me. most of them were pretty fierce though. like one of the judges mentioned, when you look at black garments from any kind of distance most of the detail gets lost. the shapes and silhouettes still carried many of those pieces though imo. and as for the other items he did, i liked some more than others, but was really impressed by how well he pulled off high fashion looks in general. and his last dress with the feathers was so dramatic it was amazing.

good idea to send it at the end. i think overall the order he sent everything out in was smart and dramatic, even the barrage of black at the beginning. he basically only used a few colors for his entire line but the way he used them and the order he the pieces out in created a great effect and made a statement.
it worked for me and i thought he did really good. it was funny seeing him have a lapse of confidence there towads the end.
i'm glad he won, i think he deserved it.
